On September 7th to the 10th, 2012, the Western returns for the third time to Colorado Springs and the BROᴬDMOOR Resort, this time for its 58th annual meeting.
The BROᴬDMOOR is a AAA Five-Diamond Resort and has Forbes Five-Star designation for the overall Resort as well as for its Penrose Room restaurant and its Spa. (The small letter 'A' raised higher than the other letters in BROᴬDMOOR is an alteration of Broadmoor, the name of a nearby area, which was necessary to obtain an exclusive copyright.)
The resort is located on 3,000 lush acres under the shadow of Cheyenne Mountain which houses the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) in one heck of a cave. It offers a tennis facility rated #3 by Tennis magazine and three 18-hole golf courses; the East Course has hosted numerous USGA championships, most recently the 2008 U.S. Senior Open. The hotel sits at an elevation of 6230 feet (1900 m) above sea level. The BROᴬDMOOR has over 700 rooms, 18 restaurants and cafes and includes the nearby El Pomar Carriage House Museum which houses an extensive collection of vintage carriages and automobiles.

The BROᴬDMOOR was built in 1918 by Spencer Penrose, a mining claim speculator, as the "Grand Dame of the Rockies"; it was one of the finest resort destinations along the Rocky Mountains during the age of railroads when Colorado Springs was a popular health destination for those wishing to take the climate felt to be curative of tuberculosus. Colorado Springs was recast during the Pikes Peak gold rush as a boom town and yet again with the arrival of NORAD and the US Air Force Academy.
With the city located at the base of the Rocky Mountains and with its many trails and parks, Colorado Springs is a popular destination for tourists seeking scenery, rock formations and other unique geological features like Pikes Peak (14K feet), Garden of the Gods park, Seven Falls, and Cave Of The Winds.
Colorado Springs has a variety of cultural, educational, and historical attractions including the Cheyenne Mountain Heritage Center, the ProRodeo Hall of Fame & Museum of the American Cowboy, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, the American Numismatic Association Money Museum and the Peterson Air and Space Museum.
